BIOT return

Once again, another USPS mail handling error. When you receive an envelope like this, it means mail was somehow mangled in transit. Upon opening the envelope, inside I found an empty envelope that was destined for British Indian Ocean Territory via Singapore.

Whomever rescued my letter wrote a kind note reminding me to seal my envelopes before sending – that really made my day.

USPS’ message inside taped to the envelope noted the handling error was dated 6 September 2019, and the letter reached me on 9 September 2019. Nevertheless, since the stamp was not canceled, I printed out a new onion-skin letter, sealed the envelope with tape, and sent it back on its way on 10 September 2019.
